The increased availability of near-patient multiplex PCR diagnostics poses new questions on how to optimize the paradigm of care for patients with infection. The use of syndromic diagnostics provides an opportunity to bring together microbiologists, clinicians and laboratorians to improve outcomes through fast and insightful diagnoses, particularly in the context of COVID-19. The session will provide four distinct points of view on the topic of syndromic testing
1:15 PM 2699-1 Reduce delays: impact of near-patient molecular testing for suspected COVID-19 in the hospital. A clinician’s perspective > T. Tristan CLARK (Southampton) 1:40 PM 2699-2 Gain insight: how can Ct values best inform laboratorians and clinicians? A microbiologist’s perspective > J. Jordi VILA ESTAPE (Barcelona) 2:05 PM 2699-3 Accelerate treatment: time to result and its impact on patient pathways in emergency care. A clinician’s perspective > D. Donia BOUZID (Paris) 2:30 PM 2699-4 Empower diagnoses: benefits of syndromic testing in high risk and vulnerable patient populations. An academic medical centre perspective > M. Melissa MILLER (Chapel Hill) 2:55 PM 2699-5 Panel discussion – Q&A
