Respiratory viruses (RSV) cause severe disease in the very young, elderly and in high risk groups. It is estimated that RSV caused 33 million cases of acute lower respiratory tract infection, 3.2 million related hospitalizations and between 48000 and 74000 in-hospital deaths in children. This symposium will feature hot topics in respiratory viral infections with emphasis on RSV.
